Set on a narrow, elongated site of more than an acre, VN House takes its architectural direction from what was already there: a dense canopy of mature oak trees.

 

Rather than clearing the site to accommodate the house, the architecture is organized around the existing landscape. Three distinct patios break the residence into a sequence of volumes, allowing the oak trees, natural light and vegetation to become part of the everyday experience of the interiors.

 

Dark wood screens and façades were deliberately chosen to recede into the landscape, creating a quiet backdrop against which the greens of the tropical vegetation remain constantly present. Large areas of glazing, covered passages and deep overhangs blur the boundaries between inside and outside, while the patios bring landscape deep into the center of the house.

 

The result is not a house placed within a garden, but a residence shaped by it—where architecture moves around the trees and interior spaces continuously reconnect with the landscape.
